Two parallel EURAPMON workshops, Murcia, May 2013 (Science Meetings 4 and 5)

Science Meeting 4: Setting best practices on raptor contaminant monitoring activities in Europe, 31. May - 2. June, 2013, Murcia (Spain)

The workshop was dedicated to reviewing and completing the first-round documents related to the setting of best practice within the context of the ESF Research Networking Programme EURAPMON. It was a targeted 3-day workshop with a limited number of participants, focused on collating, analyzing and reviewing the results of the questionnaires about methods of sampling and analysis of contaminants and other toxic elements and compounds. The main outcome will be included in a manuscript to be submitted to a scientific journal. A workshop report is now available here. Implications for assessment of user needs and improvement of the European database for raptor contaminant monitoring was addressed, and included in www.eurapmon.net.

 

Science Meeting 5: Inventory of existing raptor monitoring activities in Europe (monitoring "for" raptors)

This targeted 2-day workshop with a limited number of participants was dedicated to reviewing of the inventory of raptor monitoring activities in Europe (“for” raptor monitoring group) within the context of the ESF Research Networking Programme EURAPMON. Participants focused on collating, analyzing and reviewing the results of the questionnaire published on EURAPMON web-page and completed by National Coordinators.

A workshop report is now available here. The main outcome will also be included in a manuscript to be submitted to a scientific journal. Implications for assessment of user needs and development of a European database for raptor contaminant monitoring will be addressed.
